Passively Aerated Static Pile (PASP)
PASP Compost System
The Passively Aerated Static Pile (PASP) system is ideal for facilities that manage very large volumes of livestock manure, yard debris, food waste and other feedstock materials. It provides a more efficient approach then the Aerated Static Pile (ASP) to managing very large volumes of materials.
In this system, when the compost pile heats, it creates a "chimney effect" and passively pulls fresh cool air into the pile's base (without mechanization such as blowers). The aeration system in the PASP can be as simple as building air channels with ductwork and piling the material as pile on it.
