How We Do It
Compost Baladi has acquired several compost systems for different scales of operation to process organic residuals. The technique most commonly used in our systems is the aerated static pile which consists of forced air entering the bottom of the waste pile to maintain aerobic conditions and allow beneficial microorganisms to proliferate. The benefits of this technique are that it is low-tech, cost-effective, sanitary and requires low maintenance and minimal turning. It only requires continuous monitoring to ensure that optimal composting conditions are met. It also leads to weed suppression and sterilization from pathogens, which could be harmful to the environment and human health.
